This Week I Learned -
* Accelerated Networking feature for Azure VMs provides consistent ultra-low network latency via Azure's in-house programmable hardware and technologies such as single root I/O virtualization (SR-IOV).
* Accelerated Networking is supported on most general purpose and compute-optimized instance sizes with 2 or more vCPUs. These supported series are: D/DSv2 and F/Fs. On instances that support hyperthreading, Accelerated Networking is supported on VM instances with 4 or more vCPUs. Supported series are: D/DSv3, E/ESv3, Fsv2, and Ms/Mms.
* Azure Site Recovery supports enabling Accelerated Networking for replicated virtual machines only if the source virtual machine has Accelerated Networking enabled.
* Azure Site Recovery & Azure Backup provide complementary but different functionality. Azure Backup handles data at a more granular level than Site Recovery. If you want to keep a VM configuration and data safe and accessible, you could use Site Recovery.
* You can serve static content (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and image files) directly from a Azure Storage container named $web. Hosting your content in Azure Storage enables you to use serverless architectures that include Azure Functions and other Platform as a service (PaaS) services.
* Oracle co-founder & executive chairman Larry Ellison railed against the security measures of Amazon, as well as taking a few shots at other companies like Google and Facebook during his keynote at last year's annual Oracle user conference. Some other companies Ellison has publicly called out during previous conferences over the past 4 years include Salesforce, SAP, and Microsoft. More recently, the 75-year-old billionaire entrepreneur who is on the Board of Tesla (which plans to launch a million-car-strong robo-taxi service next year) called Uber "almost worthless" with an "app my cat could have written".
* Buffalo milk has higher protein (210mg/100g), fat, calcium than cow milk. When it comes to vegan and non-dairy “milk” beverages, soy milk is high in protein with 7 grams of protein per cup.
* There are currently 23 IITs, 20 Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs - a group of 20 public, autonomous institutes of management education and research), 12 AIIMS (All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) are a group of autonomous government public medical colleges of higher education). These are among those identified as Institutes of National Importance.
* On July 27, 2005, Mumbai, India, received a record amount of rainfall: 94 centimeters (37 inches). This is the most rain a megacity—an urban area with more than 10 million people—has ever seen in one day. On September 25th, Hyderabad experienced the heaviest rains in 100 years - 10-12 cm across the city & it almost crumbled
