* Generation 2 virtual machines are now generally available on Azure. Generation 2 VMs provide support for Intel Software Guard Extensions (Intel SGX), UEFI boot architecture, and the ability to provision large VMs (up to 12TB) and OS Disks sizes that exceed 2TB.

* Azure AD DS lets you join Azure virtual machines to a domain without domain controllers

Five critical areas when migrating your workloads to the Cloud:
• Selecting the right computing option for your workload.
• Choosing the cloud consumption models to best fit your requirements.
• Reducing operating costs by leveraging application and data services available within the cloud platform.
• Addressing security and management challenges.
• Transforming your applications with new public cloud services.

Foundational pillars of cloud-native systems:
Automation
Backing Services
Cloud Infrastructure - PaaS, DevOps
Containers
Modern design - Twelve-Factor methodology, Communication, Resiliency, Distributed Data, Identity
Microservices

* Netflix (600+), Uber (1000+), and WeChat (300+) expose systems that consist of hundreds of independent microservices.

* Cloud providers offer a rich assortment of managed backing services ( such as data stores, message brokers, monitoring, and identity services). Instead of owning the service, you simply consume it. The provider operates the resource at scale and bears the responsibility for performance, security, and maintenance. Monitoring, redundancy, and availability are built into the service. Providers fully support their managed services - open a ticket and they fix your issue.

Vivus is a lightweight JavaScript class (with no dependencies) that allows you to animate SVGs, giving them the appearance of being drawn.

Graphviz is open source graph visualization software. WebGraphviz is Graphviz in the Browser. Graph visualization is a way of representing structural information as diagrams of abstract graphs and networks. Automatic graph drawing has many important applications in software engineering, database and web design, networking, and in visual interfaces for many other domains.

* The Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) Workshop Training has a combination of experiences from Microsoft security teams and learnings from customers. The workshop videos and PDF/PowerPoint are available for download.

In 1998, Microsoft first achieved the milestone of highest market cap in the world. It regained its position as America’s most valuable corporation in 2018.

* MSN Weather offers a nice "heat map" to visualize relative temperature across the world
* To find who you talk to most on Whatsapp, follow these steps in iOS & Android: Settings > Data and Storage Usage > Storage Usage > Select Contact.

* Warmth is the conduit of influence: It facilitates trust and the communication and absorption of ideas. Trust provides the opportunity to change people’s attitudes and beliefs. As a leader, you must make sure you’re a part of the key groups in your organization. If you show your employees that you hold roughly the same worldview they do, you demonstrate not only empathy but, in their eyes, common sense—the ultimate qualification for being listened to. So if you want colleagues to listen and agree with you, first agree with them. The best way to gain influence is to combine warmth and strength. Once you establish your warmth, your strength is received as a welcome reassurance - HBR

* The standard screening test for potential psychopaths is the Hare Psychopathy Checklist.

* "The type of controls you'd need to put on to stop money laundering will also choke the financial system to the point where it won't work. Free flow of money, trade, ease of us buying products from somewhere, the easier it is to conduct business, the easier it is to money launder...Money laundering will always exist" -  Felix Sater in "This Giant Beast That Is The Global Economy"

* “Money just perverts everything” - Richard Hendricks, 'Silicon Valley', S6E2

* "Have no fear of perfection - you'll never reach it" - Salvador Dali
