This Week I Learned -  

* The Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) Landing Zone Accelerator provides a specific architectural approach and reference implementation for preparing landing zone subscriptions for an enterprise Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) deployment.

* Oracle Cloud egress is nearly 12x more cost efficient than the leading competitors. Some use cases where egress costs could be a factor:

- Moving data into an on-prem data warehouse

- Moving data for DR purposes

- Restoring backups stored in cloud to on-premise

- Database replication (in some situations)

* Broadcom, which designs, develops and supplies semiconductor and infrastructure software, will acquire VMware, an enterprise software company for $61 Billion. Broadcom Software Group will rebrand and operate as VMware. 

* A 2015 study by Microsoft concluded that the human attention span had dropped to eight seconds (shrinking from 12 seconds only 15 years earlier), emphasizing the challenge of capturing and sustaining people’s attention when presenting. Engaging and re-engaging the audience is key, and injections of humor will punctuate the speech and re-focus the listeners’ attention

* Boa constrictors don't crush their prey. They induce arterial circulatory collapse. Constriction "shuts off" blood flow (and therefore oxygen) needed by vital organs such as the heart and brain, leading to unconsciousness within seconds and cardiac arrest shortly thereafter.

Ipca Laboratories markets the anti-malarial drug Lariago. In 1975, the management of Ipca Laboratories was taken over by Amitabh Bachchan, Ajitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, M.R. Chandurkar, P.C. Godha. In 1997, the Bachchan family sold their 36% holding in Ipca Laboratories. 

* Milkha Singh won India’s first Commonwealth Games gold.

Murty Classical Library of India founded by Rohan Murty, the son of Infosys co-founder N. R. Narayana Murthy and author Sudha Murty, has been publishing classics of Indian literature since January 2015. The books, which are in dual-language format with the original language and English facing, are published by Harvard University Press.
