* The goal of the current Kaggle competition is to recognize Bengali speech from out-of-distribution audio recordings. Muslim religious sermons in Bengali are often delivered with a pace and tonality that is significantly different from regular speech. Such ‘shifts’ can be challenging even for commercially available speech recognition methods. Google Speech API for Bengali has a Word Error Rate of 74% for Bengali religious sermons. To account for Bengali’s diversity, this competition’s data is intentionally out-of-distribution. Competition host Bengali.AI is a non-profit community initiative working to accelerate language technology research for Bengali (known locally as Bangla). Bengali.AI crowdsources large-scale datasets through community-driven collection campaigns and crowdsource solutions for their datasets through research competitions. All the outcomes from Bengali.AI's two-pronged approach, including datasets and trained models, are open-sourced for public use.

T-Series and YouTube settled out of court in January 2011.

* Many investors, asked to describe themselves, describe their investment style as both contrarian and long term.

What makes some countries riskier than others to operate a business in? The answer is complicated, because everything has an effect on risk, starting with the political governance system (democracy, dictatorship or something in between), the extent of corruption in the system, the legal system (and its protection for property rights) and the presence or absence of violence in the country (from wars within or without). Businesses operating in corrupt locales face a choice of either accepting corruption as part of the cost of doing business or operating at a disadvantage to competitors who are less scrupulous. Democracies expose businesses to more continuous risk, as laws and regulations can change when elections create government changes.

* After the independence of India, the Nehru administration saw the reform of the Hindu code as necessary for modernising the Hindu society as well as to forge national unity. The Hindu code bills were several laws passed in the 1950s that aimed to codify and reform Hindu personal law in India, abolishing religious law in favor of a common law code. Other personal laws inherited from the British rule, for Muslims, Christians and Parsis, remain unreformed, forming an issue of debate among women, religious, and nationalist groups.

* Under the Maharashtra (Urban Areas) Protection and Preservation of Trees Act, 1975, applications for cutting down more than two hundred trees which are five years or older and heritage trees are referred by the local (municipal) tree authority to the Maharashtra State Tree Authority. As per a new amendment, local tree authorities can grant permission in all cases on their own. Opponents have accused Aaditya Thackeray of bringing in the earlier amendment (creating the State Tree Authority) to burnish his image as an environmental activist, and added that the intention was also to ensure that all files landed in the Mantralaya (the state government headquarters).
