Learning to Live with Flood Risk - Flood risk may be under stood as the product of three contributing and necessary conditions:

Flood Risk = Hazard × Exposure × Vulnerability

Flood hazard is modified mainly by structural measures (e.g., dikes, dams, and diversions). Exposure to flood hazard can be best managed by land use controls in more developed parts of river basins. Vulnerability of people and assets to exposure can be modified by a range of nonstructural measures such as flood forecasting and warning and flood mapping.

* Early morning flights are likely to offer cheaper tickets during these hours. Planes are rarely delayed at these times too. There are fewer crowds. This makes checking in, getting through security, and finding your gate much quicker. Data also shows that flights are less likely to experience turbulence in the morning compared to late flights.

* Takeoff and landing are the most crucial stages in any flight, so it’s always best to stay awake at these times. It is also necessary to avoid airplane ear, which is caused by the rapid air pressure change. It can be relieved by swallowing, but you won’t know to do this if you’re asleep.

* The most stable seats are located close to the wings of the aircraft. Sitting a little forward is also a quieter spot, best chosen for long flights.

* Hank Azaria who provides the voice for Moe & Chief Wiggum in The Simpsons started his association with the animated series when he was 24. He is 57 now.

* Futurama got its start almost a quarter of a century ago, in 1999, emerging from the shadow of The Simpsons. Created by Matt Groening and David X. Cohen, Futurama began before Y2K, smartphones, social media, artificial intelligence.  It was storyboarded at Rough Draft’s Glendale, California. Hundreds of artists at Rough Draft Korea did all of the "in-betweening" on Futurama, meaning all of the frames in between the key poses drawn by animators in America. The hand drawn frames are then scanned, digitally colored and combined with 3D animation and effects created at the Glendale facility. Rough Draft Studios cubicle. * Perhaps it would be ideal to only consume foods that Michael Pollan’s great-grandmother would recognize, but the reality is that we inhabit a different world from hers. It’s a science-backed move to completely avoid sweetened beverages and obvious junk food. It’s also probably not great if most of your diet is ultraprocessed, even if you’re selecting relatively healthy versions of these foods. Beyond that, the data is muddy, so I’ll still be incorporating ultraprocessed foods with favorable nutritional profiles into my family’s diet to some extent. - Slate

* Sodium bicarbonate—the chemical composition of baking soda—has powerful cleaning, scouring, and deodorizing qualities. Both baking soda and baking powder produce carbon dioxide. Baking powder is about one quarter the strength of baking soda. Penicillium nalgiovense is used in soft mold-ripened cheeses, such as Nalžovy (ellischau) cheese, and to improve the taste of sausages and hams, and to prevent colonization by other molds and bacteria.

* Penicillin, a drug produced by P. chrysogenum (formerly P. notatum), was accidentally discovered by Alexander Fleming in 1929, and found to inhibit the growth of Gram-positive bacteria. Its potential as an antibiotic was realized in the late 1930s, and Howard Florey and Ernst Chain purified and concentrated the compound. The drug's success in saving soldiers in World War II who had been dying from infected wounds resulted in Fleming, Florey and Chain jointly winning the Nobel Prize in Medicine in 1945.
