This Week I Learned - 

* Sitecore supports on-premise, IaaS (VMs), and PaaS. Sitecore does not provide any out-of-the-box setup for a VM infrastructure. As VM usage and setup within an infrastructure is unique to every organization, Sitecore does not provide an automated way to assist your setup. Sitecore Managed Cloud (Standard & Premium) is a Cloud-based hosting service provided by Sitecore that you can use to host your Sitecore Cloud deployments on Microsoft Azure. 

Hybrid multicloud is an IT operating model with multiple clouds both private and public with interoperability between them.

* AWS documentation provides a high level comparison of the following Discovery migration tools provided by AWS Partners as well as its own AWS Application Discovery Service & Migration Evaluator:

* The term agile architecture is ambiguous, since the thing we craft to be readily changeable or maintainable may be:

  1. an intentional architecture - in a high-level design document, and/or
  2. an emergent design - reflecting the structures and behaviours of a run-time system.
  3. the entire structure and operations of a business.
* New feedback features to PowerPoint Presenter Coach in PowerPoint on the web: body language, repetitive language, and pronunciation. Your video camera is used to give you feedback on your body language. This feature will launch with feedback in the summary report about how well your audience will be able to see you (Clear view), if you are too far or too close to the camera (Distance), and ensuring you are facing the camera (Eye contact). 

* When you turn on Password Monitor, Microsoft Edge  checks the passwords you’ve saved in the browser against a large database of known leaked passwords that are stored in the cloud. If any of your username-password pairs match those in the database, they'll appear on the Password Monitor page in Microsoft Edge Settings.

* SSH is used to securely access remote machines, and for authentication and encrypted data communication. There are some flaws with this basic setup. A solution to these problems is to move from using public keys to using SSH certificates and certificate authorities (CA) as the trust mechanism. 

Metaphone is a phonetic algorithm, published by Lawrence Philips in 1990, for indexing words by their English pronunciation. It fundamentally improves on the Soundex algorithm by using information about variations and inconsistencies in English spelling and pronunciation to produce a more accurate encoding, which does a better job of matching words and names which sound similar.

EasyPronunciation.com's English Phonetic Subtitle Converter converts a English subtitles (.SRT) file into subtitles where all English text is either annotated by phonetic transcription or replaced with phonetic transcription. The website also has an online tool to merge two subtitles in different languages that can be useful for language learners.

* Veritone has developed a product called MARVEL.ai that allows content producers to generate and license what it calls "hyper-realistic" synthetic voices. This means, for example, podcast creators could have audio ad copy interpreted into another language and then MARVEL.ai will generate a synthetic version of their voice reading the ad in the new language. Nvidia has been developing technology that would allow AI to alter video or animation in a way that takes an actor's lips and facial expression and matches it with the new language — so no more out-of-sync dubbing like in 1970s-era kung-fu movies.

* More Netflix viewers watched dubbed versions of the South Korean drama “Squid Game” than subtitled versions. Dubbing consumption grew by more than 120% in 2021 compared to 2020. Netflix works with more than 170 dubbing studios around the world to dub content in 34 languages. The global film dubbing market is expected to hit $3.6 billion by 2027.

* The discrete cosine transform (DCT) is a lossy compression algorithm that was first conceived by Nasir Ahmed while working at the Kansas State University, and he proposed the technique to the National Science Foundation in 1972. He originally intended the DCT for image compression. Ahmed developed a working DCT algorithm with his PhD student T. Natarajan and friend K. R. Rao in 1973. It is a core component of the 1992 JPEG image compression technology developed by the JPEG Experts Group.

This is Us, the NBC American drama television series originally began as an 80-page movie script that Dan Fogelman was developing while working for ABC Studios in the spring of 2015. In season 5, episode 8 of NBC's This Is Us, lossy compression algorithm co-creator Nasir Ahmed's story was told to highlight the importance of image and video transmission over the Internet in modern society, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic. 

* Born Chandra Mohan Jain and also known as Acharya Rajneesh, Osho was the founder of the Rajneesh movement. In 1981, the Rajneesh left to the US with his revolutionary ideologies and established Rajneeshpuram in Wasco County, Oregon but was deported from the US in 1985 after pleading guilty to violating the immigration law. After his deportation from the United States 21 other countries denied him entry. 

* Wikipedia was established and first edited on January15, 2001, the same day on which Creative Commons registered their website.

* Microsoft had struck a $68.7 billion deal to acquire Activision, the legendary game publisher responsible for franchises like Call of Duty and World of Warcraft. 

* Measles shots are good for life, chickenpox immunizations protect for 10 to 20 years, and tetanus jabs last a decade or more. All vaccines trigger immunity, but how long it lasts depends on several factors. One of them is the rate at which a virus replicates

* Commencing just 3 years after the launch of BBC, Colombo radio was the first radio station in Asia and the second oldest radio station in the world. It was later named Radio Ceylon and it is presently known as Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation. Radio Ceylon had a Hindi service that was launched in the early 1950s.  Its most popular features were film songs. Following the popularity of The Binaca Hit Parade, a countdown of English pop music, Binaca Geetmala, a count down of Hindi film songs was introduced in 1952. 

Jhumri Telaiya (also spelled as Jhumri Tilaiya) is a city in the Koderma subdivision of the Koderma District of Jharkhand, India. It is famous for Mica & Kalakand. Originally a little-known town, Jhumri Telaiya became famous in India in the 1950s as the largest number of requests for film songs addressed to radio channels like Radio Ceylon and Vividh Bharati (a nationally broadcast radio service of the All India Radio) came from this place.

* The WHO recommendation is a minimum Doctor to Patient ratio of 1:1000. Qatar has the highest D:P ratio in the world of 7.7:1000, with Cuba at 6.7:1000, Spain at 4.9:1000, Switzerland at 4.0:1000, Australia at 3.2:1000, China at 1.5:1000 and Bangladesh at 0.3:1000. India's doctor:patient (D:P) ratio is 0.74:1000 - ToI
