- delivers difficult feedback constructively
- gives actionable feedback that helps subordinate improve performance
- does not micromanage
- regularly shares relevant information from his/her manager and senior leadership
- helps reportee understand how his/her work impacts the organization
- has regular 1:1s
- has the technical expertise required to effectively manage reportee
- talks about all aspects of career development - not just promotions
- has a meaningful discussion with subordinate about his/her career development in the past six months.
