This Week I Learned -  * The existing Azure Front Door and Azure CDN from Microsoft will now be known as Azure Front Door (classic) and Azure CDN from Microsoft (classic) moving forward.  Azure Front Door Standard and Premium have the latest capabilities and future enhancements will not be available on Azure Front Door (classic). The new Azure Front Door is a modern enterprise CDN catering to both dynamic and static content acceleration with built-in turnkey security, and a simple and predictable pricing model.  * At PyCon US 2022, Anaconda’s CEO Peter Wang announced a shiny new technology called PyScript that allows users to write Python and in fact many languages in the browser.  PyScript is a system for interleaving Python in HTML (like PHP). This means you can write and run Python code in HTML, call Javascript libraries in PyScript, and do all your web development in Python * "The web browser is the most ubiquitous, portable computer environment in the wo...

This Week I Learned -  * Amazon Aurora is a MySQL and PostgreSQL-compatible relational database built for the cloud, that combines the performance and availability of traditional enterprise databases with the simplicity and cost-effectiveness of open source databases. Amazon Aurora is up to five times faster than standard MySQL databases and three times faster than standard PostgreSQL databases. It provides the security, availability, and reliability of commercial databases at 1/10th the cost. Amazon Aurora is fully managed by Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS), which automates time-consuming administration tasks like hardware provisioning, database setup, patching, and backups. *  TimelineJS is an open-source tool that enables anyone to build visually rich, interactive timelines.  * Children and youth today are surrounded by artificial intelligence (AI) in their everyday lives – from social media to smart speakers and toys, video games, and even education technolo...

This Week I Learned -  * Trusted Research Environments (TRE) enforce a secure boundary around distinct workspaces to enable information governance controls to be enforced. * The default public IP for your WordPress Amazon Lightsail instance changes if you stop and start your instance. A static IP address, attached to an instance , stays the same even if you stop and start your instance. * Differences between Amazon EC2 and Amazon Lightsail * What features Lightsail does and doesn't offer compared with other AWS services *  Larry Ellison introduced OCI  at Open World 2016.  * OCI's first 10TB of regional data egress is free per month.  In AWS , the first 100 gigabytes per month of data transfer out from all AWS Regions (except China and GovCoud) is free & in Azure first 5GB / Month is free.  * Compartments are a logical construct that create security and billing boundaries for all resources within OCI, and they map really nicely to real world...

This Week I Learned -  * Inspired by The History of the Web , the Google Chrome Developer Relations team has compiled 100 Cool Web Moments   *  Lambda Function URLs allow your function to be called via a HTTP request. This capability isn't new, previously you'd need to pair Lambda with API Gateway (v1 or v2) to invoke a function via HTTP request. *  LAMBDA is a new function available in Excel 365. Use a LAMBDA function to create custom, reusable functions and call them by a friendly name. A custom LAMBDA function does not require VBA or macros. *  Site reliability engineering (SRE) is a set of principles and practices for creating scalable and highly reliable software systems. *  SRE and DevOps are both modern operations practices . There is considerable overlap in tooling and areas of work between SRE and DevOps. SRE could be considered a specific implementation of the DevOps philosophy. SRE is to reliability as DevOp...
